LESSON PROGRAMS

At Muskoka Horse Co., we offer English riding lessons specializing in Hunter, Jumper, and Equitation. With our strong lineup of certified coaches, we cater to the beginner rider all the way to advanced, all taught on quality, well-schooled lesson horses. All riders will be educated on barn safety, handling horses from the ground up, grooming/ basic care, and equipment use and care.

Caring for our horses on the ground before and after riding is very important to us. We ask that riders come at least 20-30 minutes prior to their lesson start time to be spent grooming and tacking up the horse. For those riders who are very young, we encourage the parents to participate in this as well so that we can adhere to schedules and provide care for our horses. After lessons, riders are asked to untack and groom the horse that they have ridden. Our staff is always there to help, so never hesitate to ask questions!

  • Beginner Introductory Lessons

For the true beginner or for those getting back into the saddle after time off, we offer adult and child introductory courses. Introductory lessons are specially designed for first time riders, as well as novice riders with little formal training.

  • Private Riding Lessons

Muskoka Horse Co.’s private lessons provide one-on-one focused riding with one of our certified and experienced coaches on our own horses or one of our fantastic lesson horses. Private lessons are recommended for riders looking for individualized attention to improve their skills.

  • Group Riding Lessons

For individuals wanting to ride in group lessons (2+ riders), riders must demonstrate their ability to perform the following tasks safely and competently: groom, saddle and bridle a horse with minimal supervision, and control the horse at a walk and trot on their own. Once permitted, group lessons are a great way to motivate students, encourage active learning and create new friendships within the horse community.
